Ibercaja Foundation resumes its «Caja de Música» cycle with an opera program that will run until June 2026
The Zaragoza-based entity organizes this educational program for the third consecutive year, which will begin next Monday, September 29, with The Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart. The music critic Juan Carlos Galtier will lead the meetings at the Patio de la Infanta, introducing as a novelty works from English and Spanish opera.
The «Caja de Música» cycle will consist of 10 meetings that will take place until June 2026, maintaining the format established in previous editions. Juan Carlos Galtier, music critic and educator, will comment on the most significant operas in history while representative excerpts of each work are projected.
The sessions will take place starting at 7:00 PM at the Patio de la Infanta, with a didactic and approachable focus to bring lyricism closer to the general public.
Scheduled works for 2024
September 29: The Abduction from the Seraglio by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a comedy set in an imaginary Turkey that stands out for its technical and expressive demands.
October 20: Don Giovanni by Mozart, considered a masterpiece of musical theater that combines comedy and drama with a notably complex score.
November 3: La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini, an elegant transformation of the classic Cinderella story into an operatic format.
December 9: I Puritani by Bellini, which will conclude the 2024 program.
Continuity in 2025
The programming will continue in 2025 with six additional operas: Lucrezia Borgia (January 19), Wherter (February 16), Rigoletto (March 16), Peter Grimes (April 20), La Vida Breve (May 18), and La Bohème (June 15).
The Ibercaja Foundation defines this program as an opportunity to convey the emotions of lyricism and to showcase the most relevant stories, performers, and directors of the operatic genre. The entity, which evolved from the former Savings Bank of Zaragoza, Aragón, and Rioja, is dedicated to social and cultural work under the values of commitment, transparency, professionalism, and dynamism.
