Inflation in Aragón experienced a slowdown in April 2026, standing at 3.3% year-on-year, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This decrease, by two-tenths compared to the previous month, is mainly due to variations in the prices of electricity, fuels, and tourism services.
Inflation Comparison: Aragón, Spain, and the Eurozone
On a national level, inflation in Spain also fell by two-tenths, reaching an annual rate of 3.2%. In contrast, the Eurozone saw an increase of four-tenths, standing at an annual rate of 3.0%. This creates an unfavorable differential of three-tenths for Aragón and two-tenths for Spain compared to the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU).
Core Inflation and Energy Prices
Core inflation in Aragón, which excludes unprocessed foods and energy products, moderated by three-tenths to 2.7% year-on-year. In Spain, this rate decreased by one-tenth, reaching 2.8%, while in the Eurozone it was at 2.1%. Regarding energy prices, Brent oil was priced at $118.2 per barrel, an increase of 14.6% compared to March and 73.2% higher than the previous year. Meanwhile, TTF natural gas recorded €45.3 per MWh.
Consumption Group and Provincial Behavior
The largest increases were observed in Transportation (6.1%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (4.7%), Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.2%), Housing (4.1%), and Personal Care (4.0%). In contrast, Recreational Activities and Culture (-0.2%) and Clothing and Footwear (-0.3%) recorded negative rates. By province, Teruel presented the highest annual rate at 3.5%, followed by Huesca (3.4%) and Zaragoza (3.2%).
Regarding the decisions of the European Central Bank (ECB), at its meeting on April 29 and 30, the Governing Council decided to keep its three interest rates unchanged: the marginal deposit facility at 2.00%, the main refinancing operations at 2.15%, and the marginal lending facility at 2.40%.
