The Superior Conservatory of Music of Aragon (CSMA) is commemorating this academic year its 40 years of public higher music education with a special edition of its concert season. The program was presented by Luis Mallada, General Director of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training of the Government of Aragon, and César Peris, Director of the CSMA. This initiative is supported and sponsored by the General Directorate of Educational Policy.
The third season includes more than 30 productions organized into four main cycles: Great Concerts CSMA, Atmospheres, Family, and In-Out. The concerts will take place in nationally relevant venues: Auditorio de Zaragoza Princesa Leonor (Mozart and Luis Galve rooms), Teatro Principal de Zaragoza, Auditorio Palacio de Congresos de Huesca, Auditorio Torre Salvador de Teruel, and Fundación Juan March in Madrid. These venues will allow for direct contact with the national and international music and artistic sectors from a professional perspective.
Cycles and Musical Proposals
Great Concerts CSMA: The season will open on December 4 with a select group of masters including L.M. Suárez (violin), J.L. Inglés (clarinet), L. Puig (cello), and J. Nava (piano), performing the Quartet for the End of Time by Olivier Messiaen. The CSMA Symphony Orchestra, musicians from the Young National Orchestra of Spain, Bohemian Brass, the MUSIKENE Percussion Group from the Basque Country, and other prominent performers will also participate.
Atmospheres Cycle: This cycle presents nine titles starting on December 9. The Academy for New Music, directed by Nacho de Paz, will perform at the Teatro Principal de Zaragoza on February 20, 21, and 22 with the show «Metropolis,» which won the MAX award for Best Revelation Show in 2007. Completing the cycle will be the CSMA Cello Octet, a bassoon ensemble, the AELOS saxophone quartet (winner of the 2025 Young Performers CSMA-Juan March Foundation award), and the CSMA Flute Orchestra conducted by Juanjo Hernández, among others.
Family Cycle: Aimed at child and family audiences, this cycle will open with a silent film proposal featuring live musical accompaniment by Teresa Vilaplana. It includes performances by the CSMA Typical Orchestra, the MUSIKENE Percussion Group from the Basque Country, and the Jazz Academy directed by E. Lleida, with participation from Noél Redolar on piano and Pau Moltó on horn.
The CSMA consolidates its own pedagogical events: the sessions «Music that is not music until it is heard» by the CSMA Percussion Group, the «Educational English Concerts» program aimed at BRIT Aragón model centers for the development of foreign language skills, and the «Son CSMA» awards which recognize outstanding graduates who perform as soloists with the CSMA Symphony Orchestra.
