The international summit on mountain biking runs until Thursday, September 18, in Boltaña under the theme «Connected by Trails: How Mountain Biking Can Support Rural Development through a Systemic Approach.» Hernández stated that «cycling is not just a sport; it is a strategic tool that creates jobs, attracts quality tourism, and brings life to our municipalities.»

The minister highlighted that the province of Huesca, with its diverse landscapes such as the Ordesa National Park and Monte Perdido, the Sierra de Guara, and the Valley of Ara, «is a natural paradise for cyclists» and a «perfect» place to host the IMBA summit, «one of the most important in the world.» According to Hernández, the network of trails in Aragón, the beauty of its landscapes, and the quality of the Aragonese people «make Huesca and Aragón the ideal place for those seeking an authentic connection with nature through sports.»

The IMBA Europe Summit 2025 brings together representatives from the MTB sector worldwide this week in Boltaña. Over three days, advocates of mountain biking, researchers, MTB destination managers, trail builders, industry leaders, and experts will analyze the importance and sustainability of mountain biking in rural development. The event combines presentations, round tables, practical workshops, and bike rides to explore trails.

After the opening ceremony, the minister visited the CRA Alto Ara, where she was welcomed by its director Eva Dueso, the head of studies Sandra Saludas, and the secretary Elena Fernández. During the visit, she learned about the center’s facilities and greeted the students. The CRA Alto Ara includes schools from Boltaña, Broto, Fiscal, and Torla-Ordesa.
