The Government of Aragon has launched a grant program totaling 11.88 million euros for agricultural insurance in 2026, as published in the Official Bulletin of Aragon. This measure aims to primarily support farmers and ranchers in obtaining insurance that protects their operations against inherent risks to their activities.
Objective and scope of the agricultural insurance grant program
The initiative seeks to facilitate the subscription of combined agricultural insurance policies, providing economic stability to agricultural and livestock operations in Aragon. The grants will cover policies from the Combined Agricultural Insurance Plan for 2026, as well as lines from the 2025 Plan that extend into the following year. With this assistance, the goal is to mitigate the impact of adverse factors that may affect production and, consequently, the economy of the agricultural sector.
Implementation of the new bonus model
As of September 1, 2025, Aragon has adopted a new bonus model that allows the corresponding discount on regional contributions to be applied at the time of policy contracting. This change prevents insured parties from having to advance the subsidized amount, thus simplifying the administrative process. José Manuel Cruz, General Director of Rural Development, emphasized that this unified bonus model significantly facilitates access to agricultural insurance.
Compatibility with state aid and transition from the previous system
Regional aid is compatible with state subsidies managed by the State Entity for Agricultural Insurance (ENESA), always within the limits established by current regulations. Additionally, the Government of Aragon has committed to disbursing the pending 11.8 million euros from the previous system in the coming weeks, corresponding to the period from January 1 to August 31, 2025, thereby conclusively closing the previous subsidy model.
