The Government of Aragon has greenlit the Epilon project in Épila, an initiative by Box2Bit that has been declared an Investment of Autonomous Interest. This ambitious project aims to develop a Data Processing Centers Campus, which represents a significant investment and a boost for the local economy.
Development of the Data Campus in Épila
The Epilon project involves a total investment of 3.9 billion euros, divided into two phases: an initial phase of 1.125 billion and a subsequent phase of 2.775 billion. This development not only represents a technological advance but also an economic driver, as it is expected to create 550 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs during the construction phase. Once operational, the campus will generate 63 direct jobs and 200 indirect jobs, with completion anticipated by 2029.
Investments in Renewable Energy
In addition to the project in Épila, the Government has approved the construction of six renewable gas generation plants, with a total investment of 132 million euros. The plants, located in Lupiñén, Agón, and Bujaraloz, will be managed by Biogás Power, while those in San Esteban de Litera, Calanda, and Caspe will be developed by Ric Energy. These initiatives will generate a total of 305 direct and indirect jobs during construction and 152 in the operational phase.
Advances in Public Employment and Education
The Government Council has approved the creation of 2,740 public job positions, distributed between the health sector and general administration. In the educational field, an expenditure of 13.6 million euros has been authorized for the construction of a new institute in Monzón, and the transfer of the Pavilion of Spain for the Conservatory of Zaragoza has been requested, with an investment of 8.5 million. Furthermore, measures have been taken to promote the International Baccalaureate at the IES Vega del Turia in Teruel.
These decisions reflect the Government of Aragon’s commitment to sustainable economic development and the improvement of educational infrastructure, positioning the region as a benchmark in innovation and growth. With an eye toward the future, these projects promise to transform the economic and social landscape of Aragon.
