The funds will be allocated to projects aimed at people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and families, among other groups. The community will also receive €1.3 million for healthcare and transplant programs.
Aragón will receive €13 million to finance social interest programs developed by third sector entities. The funds come from the allocation of 0.7% of the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) and the Corporate Tax, and are part of the distribution agreed upon between the Spanish government and the autonomous communities to support social projects through 2026.
This financing will support programs directed at various groups and areas of care, including people with disabilities, the elderly, children, families, and the Roma population. These are initiatives primarily developed by social organizations that work directly with individuals in vulnerable situations or with specific support needs.
The system is funded by contributions from taxpayers who check the box designated for social purposes on their tax return, along with the corresponding allocation from the Corporate Tax. The resources are subsequently distributed among state-level programs and the autonomous communities, which manage a portion of the funds allocated to projects developed in their respective territories.
The scale of this funding mechanism can be appreciated in the number of initiatives it supports. In the call for 2024, more than 10,000 projects in Spain were financed, targeting areas such as disability, the elderly, children, families, and social inclusion.
Another €1.3 million for healthcare programs
In addition to the funding for social programs, Aragón will receive a further €1.3 million for actions related to healthcare cohesion and transplants. The Council of Ministers has authorized this allocation at the proposal of the Ministry of Health within the distribution of funds designated for the autonomous communities.
These resources will finance various actions within the National Health System and programs related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation. With both allocations, Aragón will receive over €14 million linked to social and healthcare programs, although they correspond to different financing mechanisms and purposes.
The distribution of the €13 million earmarked for social interest will now allow for the continuation or promotion of projects managed by entities that work directly in the area. For a significant part of the third sector, these calls represent one of the main public funding avenues for programs aimed at groups that require attention, support, or specific inclusion measures.
