The Provincial Council of Teruel (DPT) has launched the European project ‘Start in Mountains’ in Montalbán, co-financed by Interreg Europe with a budget of 1.5 million euros, aimed at making Teruel a benchmark for innovative entrepreneurship in mountainous areas.
The project will begin with a participatory session on July 4, 2025, where representatives from various sectors will gather to analyze the entrepreneurship network in the mountainous rural areas of the province. They will use a questionnaire validated by the European Commission to assess the capacities, barriers, and potential of the entrepreneurial environment.
The results obtained will allow for a territorial diagnosis that will serve as a basis for developing pilot actions inspired by best practices in Europe. These actions will include the creation of mentoring networks, rural innovation hubs, and strategies to attract talent.
Antonio Abad, Deputy for European Programs, emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the public sector, social fabric, and businesses to stimulate the local economy and retain the population in these areas.
The Provincial Council of Teruel, leading this project, invites public and private entities to join this collective effort aimed at transforming and revitalizing the region. This process will continue to develop and expand in the coming months.
