The Vice President of the Government of Aragón, Mar Vaquero, presented the «Aragón es pyme» network on June 20, 2025 at the Pignatelli Building in Zaragoza. This initiative aims to promote local economic development by supporting local entities that drive active policies for small and medium-sized enterprises in the Aragonese territory.
Objectives and Purposes of the Network
The main objectives of the «Aragón es pyme» network are to foster local economic development by supporting entrepreneurship and SMEs, to identify and highlight good practices developed by local entities, to assist municipalities in designing and implementing effective measures for the consolidation and growth of the business fabric, and to create an active community of local entities that share learnings and cooperate in boosting SMEs in Aragón.
Participants and Collaborative Entities
The presentation featured contributions from the president of the Aragonese Federation of Municipalities, Comarcas, and Provinces (FAMCP), Carmelo Pérez, the mayor of Alcañiz, Miguel Ángel Estevan, the mayor of Monreal del Campo, Mario Latorre, and representatives from companies such as the Association of Industrialists of the Lower Ebro (AIRBE), the technology consulting firm Xelab from Luesia, the Tierra Buxo hotel in Arcusa, Iberia Compositech from Calatayud, the livestock operation Casa Farrerolo in San Feliu de Veri, and the Allueva optical shop from Monreal del Campo.
The network will be open to municipalities, comarcas, and provincial councils in Aragón that promote these purposes, as well as collaborative entities of a non-institutional nature such as business associations, chambers of commerce, foundations, or other non-profit entities.
Requirements and Support Measures
To join the network, local entities must demonstrate lines of action such as administrative simplification and favorable tax measures for SMEs, promotion of generational renewal, implementation of digital transformation plans aimed at self-employed individuals, local businesses, and SMEs, and the promotion of local commerce, agri-food industry, and craftsmanship.
Affiliated entities will receive support from the Government of Aragón through measures of assistance, advice, recognition, and public visibility. A monitoring committee composed of representatives from the Government of Aragón, the FAMCP, and the Aragón Emprende Foundation will oversee the functioning of the network.
The Director General of SMEs and Self-Employed, Ana Sanz, emphasized that «the network is born to bring together, to unite forces, to combine talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship,» while Mar Vaquero highlighted that it constitutes «a safety net that will encourage and help to share success stories.» The network will be formalized through the approval of a decree following its corresponding participation phase.
