Aragón has achieved a significant milestone in February 2026 by recording the largest number of Social Security affiliates in its history, despite an increase in unemployment. This phenomenon reflects an economic dynamism that contrasts with the slight rise in unemployment, according to data from CEOE Aragón.
Increase in affiliation and annual comparison
The number of Social Security affiliates in Aragón grew by 2,408 people during February, reaching a total of 629,231 affiliates. This increase of 0.38% compared to the previous month marks a historic record for the region. Compared to February 2025, affiliation has increased by 12,807 people, representing a growth of 2.08%. Meanwhile, registered unemployment has shown a downward trend over the past year, with a reduction of 2,211 people, equivalent to a decrease of 4.20%.
Employment-driving sectors
The sectors that have shown the most dynamism in job creation during February are Construction, Industry, New Technologies, and Transport. This sectoral behavior underscores the need to adapt training and employment guidance toward these growing areas. Jesús Arnau, General Director of CEOE Aragón, emphasizes the importance of directing and training unemployed individuals and youth toward professions linked to these in-demand sectors, as well as the need to attract talent to sustain this growth.
Performance by provinces
Analysis by provinces reveals differentiated behaviors regarding unemployment. Huesca experienced a monthly unemployment increase of 2.90%, while Zaragoza registered an increase of 1.56%. In contrast, Teruel managed to reduce its unemployment rate by 0.40%. Annually, all provinces showed decreases in unemployment: Teruel led with a drop of 7.46%, followed by Huesca with 4.75% and Zaragoza with 3.74%. The affiliation to Social Security also grew both monthly and annually in all three provinces, particularly highlighting the growth in Huesca.
