The Government of Aragon has launched an initiative to promote local tourism in 2026, reactivating the vouchers that cover 50% of the cost of accommodation and breakfast in guesthouses in the region. This measure, with an investment of 209,800 euros, aims to stimulate the local economy and increase domestic tourism, offering significant discounts to residents and those born in Aragon.
Details of the tourism vouchers and eligibility
The program is designed to benefit all adults who were born or reside in Aragon. The vouchers cover 50% of the price of accommodation and breakfast in a double room for one night, including VAT, although they do not apply to additional services. Each individual can use up to five vouchers, ensuring broad participation. Eligibility verification is carried out using the DNI and the current year’s census.
Participation of guesthouses and distribution of funds
The funds of 209,800 euros are distributed among nine Aragonese guesthouses, selected for their accommodation capacity. These include the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, with 25 rooms, and the Monastery of Rueda, which offers 35 rooms. Other participants are the Palacio Matutano Daudén de Iglesuela with 36 rooms, the Palacio de Allepuz with 22, and the Hospedería del Castillo Papa Luna de Illueca with 26 rooms, among others.
Impact on the low season and reopenings
The initiative also addresses the issue of low occupancy during the low season. Several establishments that close during this period will reopen to participate in the program. The Monastery of San Juan de la Peña will reopen on March 11, while the Monastery of Rueda and the Palacio de Allepuz will do so on April 1, thus expanding options for local tourists.
