Aragón Promotes Wine Internationalization with 22 Foreign Buyers

The Government of Aragón, through Aragón Exterior (AREX) and Aragón Alimentos, organized an international meeting that brought together 22 buyers from 15 countries in Europe and Latin America. The initiative aims to open new markets and strengthen business opportunities for Aragonese wineries, both in traditional European destinations and in emerging markets in Latin America.

International Wine Buyers Meeting

The day began with a masterclass by sommelier Félix Artigas, who presented the characteristics of Aragonese wine, its climates, soils, grape varieties, and wine production regions. During the event, four representative wines from the regional offer were tasted.

At noon, dishes featuring Aragonese products such as Jamón de Teruel DOP, olives from Bajo Aragón, beef from the Pyrenees, IGP Teruel pork, and Aragonese rice were enjoyed while the buyers continued tasting wines and exchanging impressions with producers. In total, there were over 250 meetings between buyers and the 50 participating wineries, with tastings of approximately 350 different wines.

Visits to Wineries and Market Expansion

In the following days, the buyers visited wineries in the Denominations of Origin of Cariñena, Campo de Borja, Calatayud, Somontano, and the Pago Aylés winery to learn about the origin of the wines.

Javier Camo, managing director of Aragón Exterior, noted that buyers are looking for authentic and distinctive wines and expressed special interest in Aragonese garnacha and new options such as de-alcoholized or low-alcohol wines. While Europe remains a priority destination, there is a significant effort to open doors in more novel markets, especially in Latin America, where interest in high-quality Spanish wines is growing strongly.

Strengthening the Aragonese Brand

The event is part of the renewal of the brand «Aragón, Sabor de Verdad», which reinforces the image and strategy to consolidate the prestige of Aragonese products. Javier Rincón, counselor of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food, emphasized that the internationalization of Aragonese wine is a priority for the Government of Aragón and that these initiatives enhance the competitive capacity of the wine sector as an economic driver and an element of territorial identity.
