Over 8,000 Votes in Zaragoza’s Best Daily Menu Contest

The competition for the Best Menu of the Day in Zaragoza and its province, organized by Horeca Restaurantes, has surpassed all expectations by closing its public voting phase with more than 8,000 votes. This initiative, which has seen participation from over 55 restaurants, is solidifying its place as a prominent event in the region’s culinary calendar. Nine establishments have been selected to advance to the next phase after being chosen by the public.

Evaluation and Finalist Selection Process

The competition is conducted in two clearly defined stages. In the first stage, public voting determines the finalists in each price category. Subsequently, a professional judging panel, which operates anonymously, will visit the selected restaurants to evaluate key aspects such as preparation, presentation, menu balance, value for money, and service quality. This approach ensures that the winning menus are recognized not only for their popularity but also for their culinary quality.

The finalist restaurants are divided into three categories based on price range. In the category of up to 18 euros, the selected establishments are Boca Boca – Centro, Espliego, and Sercotel Plaza Feria. For the range of 18 to 25 euros, the finalists are Il Principale, Méli Mélo, Restaurante Mara, and Rua Restauración – Facultad de Ciencias. Finally, in the executive menu category, with prices ranging from 25 to 35 euros, the chosen ones are Celebris, Urola, and Wenceslao.

Expectations for the Horeca Awards Gala

The final winners in each category will be announced at the highly anticipated Horeca Awards Gala, which will take place on March 23. José María Lasheras, president of Horeca Restaurantes Zaragoza, has emphasized the growing importance of this competition, stating that «it has become an essential event» for the sector. Lasheras also anticipates that there will be new editions in the coming years, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to promoting local gastronomy.

Founded in 1977, Horeca Restaurantes is a business association that represents entrepreneurs in the hotel and gastronomy sector in Zaragoza and its province. Its objectives include coordination, representation, and advocacy for the sector’s interests, as well as promoting the economic and social development of this community. With initiatives like this competition, Horeca Restaurantes continues to drive recognition and excellence in the region’s culinary offerings.
