Cariñena Celebrates Its 59th Grape Harvest Festival with National Recognition and New Inductees to the Walk of Stars
The Denomination of Origin Cariñena will celebrate its 59th Grape Harvest Festival from September 26 to 28, in a special edition marking several significant milestones. For the first time, the event holds recognition as a National Tourist Interest Festival, coinciding with the year that Cariñena holds the title of European Wine City 2025.
New Inductees to the Walk of Stars
The iconic Walk of Stars in Cariñena will reach 30 celebrities with the additions of journalist Ángel Expósito and singer Rozalén. Expósito, director of the «La linterna» program on COPE and Honorary Guest of the festival, will imprint his hands on Friday at 6:50 PM after participating in the main event of the Exaltation of Wine.
Meanwhile, Rozalén will leave her mark on Sunday at 4:00 PM, before her performance at the sanctuary of the Virgen de Lagunas during the Divino festival, a concert that is already sold out for 800 attendees.
Changes in the Format of the Celebration
This edition presents significant changes in its structure: it expands from two to three days of celebration, and the main event is moved from Saturday to Friday. The Exaltation of Wine will take place on Friday 26 at 6:00 PM in Plaza de España, where Expósito will deliver a speech and activate the fountain to flow wine throughout the weekend.
Extended Activities Program
The Wine Fair significantly extends its hours and activities. It will operate on Friday from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Saturday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Sunday continuously from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Throughout the weekend, there will be tastings of wines from the Denomination, local cuisine, and musical performances, including the presentation of «The Blue Star» featuring Pepe Lorente and Javier Macipe.
Prospects for the 2025 Harvest
The Denomination of Origin Cariñena expects to collect approximately 55 million kilos of grapes this year from its 13,151.62 hectares of registered vineyards, reflecting a 7.6% increase compared to 2024. The harvest began on August 13 with the earliest varieties and is expected to conclude in the second half of October, with mechanical harvesting already implemented on 80% of the area.
The celebration maintains its traditional essence of thanking nature for its fruits and paying tribute to the vintners who produce «The Wine that Comes from the Stones,» a slogan that identifies the production of the Denomination due to its characteristic stony soils.
