Zaragoza City Council Allocates 450,000 Euros for Cultural Grants

The Zaragoza Provincial Council has launched a call for aid totaling 450,000 euros aimed at financing cultural activities in municipalities of the province. This initiative seeks to promote culture and local associations, with an application deadline of April 17.

Conditions for accessing cultural aid

The aid is directed at associations and non-profit entities that have their own legal personality and are registered in the corresponding Public Registry. Additionally, they must have their registered office in municipalities of Zaragoza with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants. These conditions ensure that the aid reaches the communities that need it most, fostering cultural development in less populated areas.

Variety of subsidizable cultural activities

The range of activities that can receive funding is extensive, including theater, film, Aragonese folklore, publications, exhibitions, photographic routes, dance and singing courses, as well as reading workshops. Furthermore, initiatives related to music, performing arts, visual arts, literature, audiovisuals, and multidisciplinary activities are also considered. This diversity allows local communities to choose projects that best suit their cultural interests and needs.

Budget details and execution of activities

Each entity can submit a single application, with a budget that must range between 1,500 and 7,500 euros (VAT included). The individual grant will range from 1,200 to 6,000 euros, covering up to 80% of the total budget for the activity. Activities must take place between October 1, 2025, and October 1, 2026, and eligible expenses include production, promotion, dissemination, and personnel specifically hired for each activity.

Charo Lázaro, deputy delegate for Culture, emphasized that this call not only enriches the cultural life of the municipalities but also ensures access to culture as a fundamental right. Additionally, she highlighted the role of associations as a «dynamic engine» of social life, promoting participation and community cohesion.
