EROSKI launches sustainability program for 394 suppliers in Aragón

EROSKI, together with the Food and Beverage Association of Aragón and the Aragón Food Cluster, has launched an innovative training program on sustainability for suppliers. This initiative aims to strengthen the value chain in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects, aligning with EROSKI’s Supplier Support Program.

Comprehensive Approach to Sustainability

Throughout 2026, various sessions will be held both in-person and online, focusing on critical topics such as food waste, calculating the carbon footprint, and implementing decarbonization plans. Additionally, eco-design of packaging and adaptation to the European deforestation regulation will be addressed, along with the implementation of equality and diversity plans.

Communication with stakeholders will also be a key topic, in accordance with the new sustainability reporting standards. These sessions are designed to provide practical tools that will enable suppliers to progress towards more sustainable production models.

Participatory Methodology and Preliminary Diagnosis

The program is structured around presentations and practical cases, aiming to offer applicable solutions to current challenges. Before the sessions began, a diagnosis was conducted with the participation of 394 suppliers, of which 55 are from Aragón. This diagnosis allowed for the identification of strengths and areas for improvement in terms of sustainability.

The participatory methodology seeks not only to inform but also to actively engage suppliers in the transformation process towards more sustainable practices, thus responding to regulatory and market demands.

Program Launch: Preventing Food Waste

The first session of the program was held on February 11, 2026, focusing on the prevention and reduction of food waste. This initial day brought together around thirty suppliers from Aragón and marked the beginning of an ambitious training plan aimed at positively impacting the sustainability of the region’s food industry.
