Zaragoza has become the European epicenter of the textile sector by hosting the Final Conference of the Digi-Branding project, an initiative aimed at promoting digitalization and sustainability in textile vocational training. This event, held on February 10 and 11, 2026, gathered experts and representatives from several European countries.
The Digi-Branding Project and Its Impact on Textile Education
The Digi-Branding project, funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, has been coordinated by the Federation of Textile and Clothing Industries of Aragon (FITCA). It has involved collaboration with partners from Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, and Bulgaria. Its main objective has been to update the vocational training curricula in fashion, aligning them with the European DigiComp and GreenComp frameworks.
Between 2023 and 2025, the project focused on creating an educational curriculum for vocational training teachers, emphasizing digitalization and sustainability. It also aimed to bridge the gap between industry needs and student competencies, promoting sustainability and environmental awareness in the fashion sector.
Results and Conclusions from the Conference
The conference highlighted several achievements, such as the development of a Strategic Plan for updating vocational training studies in fashion and an innovative educational curriculum for instructors. These materials are available on an online educational platform and have been pilot implemented in several European countries. Additionally, a Report of Recommendations on digitalization and sustainability was presented.
During the event, a roundtable was conducted with experts from the textile, educational, and business sectors. The topics discussed included digitalization in fashion and textiles, international collaboration, and the development of youth competencies in the digital age.
Future Perspectives for Sustainable Fashion
The Final Conference not only marked the closure of the project but also opened a new stage for the implementation and dissemination of its results in the European fashion and vocational training ecosystem. Santiago Vicente, Secretary General of FITCA, emphasized the importance of integrating digitalization and sustainability into vocational training curricula. For her part, Mar Paños, General Director of Industrial Promotion and Innovation of the Government of Aragon, highlighted the collaboration between companies, educational institutions, and administrations as the key to modern vocational training.
With this initiative, Zaragoza and Aragon are consolidating their positions as leaders in innovation, sustainability, and digitalization in the textile sector, projecting a promising future for education and the fashion industry in Europe.
