Ethics and Humanism in Technology: II Conference of Aragón in the Digital Era
The II Conference Aragón: Autonomy in the Digital Era takes place today and tomorrow, organized by the Government of Aragón and the Manuel Giménez Abad Foundation. Vice President Mar Vaquero has emphasized the necessity for «ethics and humanism to be undeniably present» in technological advancements. The event brings together more than 300 registered participants, including approximately twenty university professors, researchers, philosophers, and experts in Artificial Intelligence.
The gathering integrates professionals from multiple disciplines: computer science, medicine, law, humanities, music, literature, and architecture. Among the speakers is Diego Gutiérrez Pérez, founder of the Graphics and Imaging Lab at the Institute of Research in Engineering of Aragón (IA3), recently awarded the national prize by the Scientific Computer Society of Spain and the BBVA Foundation.
Theme and Structure of the Conferences
First Day: addresses aspects such as the promises and realities of Artificial Intelligence, algorithm governance, the citizen as a rights holder in the digital era, the functioning of generative AIs, and natural language processing. Round tables with journalists, writers, composers, and researchers are included.
Second Day: emphasizes the legal perspective with discussions on constitutional law, technological legislation, and citizen rights in a digital context. Francisco Balaguer Callejón, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Granada, will present the lecture «The Constitution of the Algorithm.»
