Zaragoza Hosts ‘VisionarIAs,’ a Series on Artificial Intelligence

The Fundación Ibercaja Campus in Zaragoza has become the epicenter of the debate on artificial intelligence with the launch of the ‘VisionarIAs’ series. This event, which is part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Fundación Ibercaja, aims to explore the origins and future of AI, starting with an inaugural session on May 19, 2026.

Inaugural Event Details

The first session, titled «Heritage and Origins, the Past of AI», will take place at the Monasterio de Cogullada in Zaragoza. The event will begin at 6:00 PM and will feature the involvement of prominent national figures in the fields of artificial intelligence, engineering, and technology. Registration is free and can be done through the Fundación Ibercaja website. At the end of the event, a networking cocktail will be offered to encourage the exchange of ideas among attendees.

Featured Participants

The event will be moderated by Esther Borao, director of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA). Among the participants are Elisenda Bou-Balust, engineer and co-founder of Vilynx and Cala.ai, and Ana Freire, researcher at the Barcelona School of Management and director of the STOP project. Bou-Balust will share her insights on the evolution of AI, while Freire will focus on the need for a more ethical AI that is aware of its social impact.

Exploring Artificial Intelligence

The inaugural session of the ‘VisionarIAs’ series will address various topics, from the origins of artificial intelligence to the ethical, social, and economic challenges it poses. The impact of AI on sectors such as work, education, and decision-making will be discussed, as well as the often-overlooked role of women in the history of technology. Additionally, there will be reflections on the transition from symbolic models to machine learning.

The ‘VisionarIAs’ series, led by Cristina Aranda Gutiérrez, an AI consultant and co-founder of Mujeres Tech, is structured in three meetings. Each session combines technological perspectives with their social, cultural, or economic impact, offering a comprehensive view of artificial intelligence and its future implications.
