The Government of Aragón has launched a call for subsidies totaling 2.5 million euros for pilot projects focused on technological innovation in the agri-food sector. This initiative, which will extend from 2026 to 2029, aims to enhance modernization and efficiency in the sector within the region.
Funding and Project Characteristics
Selected projects will receive funding ranging from 30,000 to 150,000 euros, covering up to 80% of eligible expenses. This funding is supported by 80% from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The call is part of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 (CAP), emphasizing the region’s commitment to sustainable and competitive development in the agri-food sector.
Priority Areas and Strategic Objectives
The projects must focus on addressing strategic challenges in the Aragonese agri-food sector. Among the objectives are improving irrigation efficiency, increasing the added value of productions, and enhancing competitiveness in both extensive and intensive livestock farming. Additionally, initiatives that promote digitalization in the sector, 4.0 agriculture, and the use of agricultural biomass in industrial processes will be encouraged.
Participation and Resource Mobilization
The call is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including agricultural professional organizations, cooperatives, agri-food industries, irrigation communities, livestock associations, environmental entities, private companies, research centers, and universities. Together with other recently published aid lines, the Department of Agriculture of Aragón mobilizes over 6 million euros in 2026, thereby reinforcing innovation and competitiveness in the agri-food sector in the region.
