The event «Women Cultivating Change: Leadership, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in the Agro-Food and Livestock Sector» held in Zaragoza highlighted the crucial role of women in a key sector for the Aragonese economy. Organized by the Aragonese Institute for Women (IAM), it brought together more than fifty participants interested in reducing the gender gap in this field.
The event focused on recognizing and showcasing female leadership in the agro-food and livestock sector, where women still face significant challenges. Held at the Center for Orientation, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Employment Support (COE Aragón) of the INAEM, the meeting underscored the importance of women as a driving force for change in a strategic sector for Aragon.
Claudia Pérez Forniés, acting Councilor for Employment, Science, and Universities, inaugurated the event by highlighting how each woman leading a farm or agro-food project not only paves the way for others but also broadens the sector’s perspectives. This recognition is essential for promoting equality of opportunity and encouraging inclusive growth.
Women-Led Projects
During the event, various innovative business initiatives led by women in the sector were presented. These projects not only demonstrate women’s capacity to lead and transform the sector but also serve as inspiration for new generations of female entrepreneurs.
The Government of Aragon, through the IAM, has identified entrepreneurship as a key strategy for regional development. María Antoñanzas, director of the IAM, emphasized the impact of the agro-food and livestock sector on the Aragonese economy, particularly in terms of exports, highlighting the need to continue supporting women who drive this growth.
The event concluded with a call to action to continue promoting female leadership in traditionally male-dominated sectors, emphasizing that empowering women benefits not only the entrepreneurs themselves but also strengthens the economy and society as a whole.
