The logistics sector in Aragón has consolidated its position as a strategic enclave with 24,618 workers, representing 2.7% of the national labor market in this field. However, it faces significant challenges such as generational change and a notable gender gap.
Aragón: a pillar in the logistics sector
Aragón stands out in the national logistics landscape, concentrating 3% of workers in Freight Transport, with 13,025 people. In Warehousing and related transport activities, the figure reaches 7,366 workers, representing 2.2% of the national total. Additionally, in Postal and Courier Activities, the community counts 4,227 professionals, which equates to 3% of the sector. At the regional level, 3.9% of the Aragonese workforce is employed in logistics, slightly below the national average of 4.1%.
Growth and employment structure in the logistics sector in Spain
At the national level, the logistics sector reached a record of 928,000 employees in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a year-on-year growth of 4.6%. Freight Transport leads employment with 47.8%, followed by Warehousing and related activities with 36.5%. The latter showed the most dynamism with a 14.5% growth over the year. Challenges of aging and gender gap
The aging of the workforce is a structural challenge, with the group aged 45 to 54 becoming the most numerous since 2020. In Freight Transport, 62.5% of workers are over 45 years old. However, there is dynamism in younger segments, especially in Warehousing, where employment among those under 25 grew by 76.8%, and in Postal and Courier Activities, which saw an increase of 125.5%.
The gender gap is another challenge, with only 23.5% female presence in the logistics sector, far below the national average of 46.4%. In Freight Transport, female participation is merely 12.3%, while in Warehousing it reaches 35.5% and in Postal and Courier Activities, it stands at 29.7%.
The logistics sector in Aragón and Spain faces significant challenges, but also presents growth opportunities and dynamism in certain segments. Addressing generational renewal and reducing the gender gap will be key to its future development.
