MAZ launches the first «360º Preventive Culture» conferences focused on corporate chemical safety
The mutual collaborator with Social Security No. 11 has launched an annual initiative aimed at promoting workplace prevention in organizations and consolidating a global preventive culture. The two-day event will take place on September 17 and 18, 2025, at the MAZ Hospital in Zaragoza, focusing on chemical safety due to the prevalence of chemical exposure in the majority of companies.
The inauguration was conducted by Jesus Divassón, General Director of Labor for the Government of Aragon, alongside Guillermo de Vílchez, General Manager of MAZ, and María Parera, head of the Preventive Activities Department of the Mutual. The event brings together professionals in occupational risk prevention, human resources managers, company doctors, managers, team leaders, and small business owners.
The stated objective is to introduce the latest advancements, techniques, protocols, and tools in prevention, fostering awareness of emerging risks and protecting employees against dangerous situations.
Justification of the chemical focus: From the Occupational Risk Prevention Department of Mutua MAZ, it is noted that «ignorance in handling chemicals significantly increases the risk of accidents, hence the importance of addressing this topic in a practical and updated manner.»
Content program: Through presentations, round tables, and workshops, the program addresses legislative updates, carcinogenic agents, safety measures for storing chemicals, accident investigations using virtual reality, risks associated with lithium batteries, and exposure to radon in the workplace.
Practical workshops on the second day
Spill management: A theoretical-practical workshop offering guidelines on how to act in the event of chemical spills, including containment and neutralization protocols, developed in the Auditorium of the MAZ Hospital.
Flammable gases and liquids: Led by Íñigo Arruti, a firefighter and trainer, this workshop demonstrates how these compounds ignite, their propagation, and appropriate extinguishing techniques. It is held in the parking lot area for practical demonstrations in a safe environment.
Virtual reality: Conducted by Gabriel César Jiménez, director of GA Group, this session focuses on the use of this technology to analyze accidents involving chemicals through simulated environments. It takes place in the Hall of the Auditorium.
