Raquel Aldaz Wins the 2025 Fashion Talent Award with «Background Noise»

The Fashion Talent Award 2025, awarded by IED Madrid for the second consecutive year, recognizes and gives visibility to future fashion icons. The independent jury consisted of Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of ACME and director of Madrid es Moda; Leticia García, Fashion Editor at SModa; David Alarcón, editor of METAL Magazine and deputy director of ACERO Magazine; and Federico Antelo, visual artist, textile designer, and director of the Fashion School at IED Madrid.

Aldaz’s proposal stood out for its conceptual strength, its willingness to take risks and explore the limits of disciplines and materials, its technical rigor, aesthetic experimentation, and its strong commitment to work.

The collection was presented at the center’s Fashion Show as part of the official programming of Madrid es Moda, transforming the runway into a space for critical thought about one of the great dilemmas of our time: is it possible to create sustainably in a world dominated by consumption? The designer explains that this noise is always present, influencing our decisions and creativity.

To shape this concept, Aldaz worked intensively for an entire year, manually intervening in each fabric and exploring new materials she created herself. The collection combines reused household fabrics, twills, and textile printing techniques, generating voluminous garments that made the logistics of transportation almost as complex a challenge as their own creation.

In this edition, for the first time, recent graduates from the Fashion Design Degree at IED Madrid were part of the official agenda of Madrid es Moda, the platform that promotes Spanish author fashion and generates new business opportunities. The Fashion Show brought together fashion and communication professionals to discover the new generation of designers. Among the 12 selected, Raquel Aldaz shone with a winning proposal.

Eduardo Castañé, General Director of IED Madrid, emphasized that «incorporating emerging designers into events like Madrid es Moda allows for the visibility of new proposals and talents that will contribute to the development of fashion, introducing ideas, techniques, and perspectives that will influence future trends in the sector.»

Connection with Aragón

Although trained in Madrid, Raquel carries the Aragonese perspective with her. This way of working with the nearby, the manual, the essential, is present in every garment. Her collection is not only fashion; it is also a manifesto about how the environment shapes the way of creating. Like many young Aragonese, she has ventured outside for training but keeps the bond with her roots alive, demonstrating that from Aragón, it is also possible to contribute a critical and innovative vision to the national fashion scene.

With Background Noise, Raquel not only showcased her creative talent but also placed Zaragoza on the map of emerging fashion, demonstrating that impactful projects can also emerge from Aragón, capable of engaging with major global challenges and captivating an audience on a runway as significant as that of Madrid.
