The Government of Aragón, through the departments of Health, Environment, and Tourism, has launched the Nature and Health program this summer, aimed at promoting health through contact with nature. The initiative was presented on July 16, 2025, at La Alfranca, highlighting its relevance for the well-being of the community.
General population: The program provides access to activities in the Natural Network of Aragón, facilitating the integration of nature into the daily lives of citizens.
Users with specific needs: Specific spaces have been designated for therapeutic activities recommended by health professionals, including the Natural Park of Moncayo and the Protected Landscapes of San Juan de la Peña and Monte Oroel, as well as the Pinares de Rodeno. Health centers in Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza are actively participating in this approach.
Specific groups: Immersive activities such as forest bathing are being conducted, specially designed for groups with particular needs, such as participants from the Spanish Association of Metastatic Breast Cancer, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in the Natural Park of Moncayo.
Coordination and approach
The coordination of the program is carried out through an interdepartmental team that includes various general directorates, ensuring an integrated and multidisciplinary approach that encompasses everything from environmental education to public health and healthcare assistance.
The One Health approach adopted emphasizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health, forming part of a broader strategy that seeks to promote holistic well-being in the Aragonese community.
Entities such as the Red Cross and the Aragonese Patients Forum collaborate in the implementation of the program, providing essential support to maximize its reach and effectiveness.
