Zaragoza Opens the Offering of Fruits to All Citizens in 2025

The City Council of Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Regional Houses of Aragón, has decided to make participation in the traditional Offering of Fruits universal, which takes place on October 13 during the Pilar Festivals. This measure expands last year’s initiative, which saw 240 residents participate representing their neighborhoods, to increase donations destined for social entities.

Participation Modalities and Registration Process

Interested citizens can register until September 26 by sending an email to ofrendadefrutos-barriosydistritos@zaragoza.es, indicating their first name, last name, date of birth, mobile phone, email address, and residential district. The first 400 registrants will have the opportunity to deposit their food items directly in the Virgin’s chamber within the Basilica, while the remaining participants will leave their donations at the altarpiece of the Virgin of Pablo Serrano, located in the Plaza del Pilar.

The limitation on the number of participants inside the temple responds to the need to adapt the event to the schedule of religious services and to the preparations for the Crystal Rosary, which takes place that same afternoon.

Solidarity Dimension and Institutional Collaboration

The initiative retains its traditional solidarity character, directing the collected donations to entities such as the Food Bank and the Refuge. The agreement signed between the City Council and the Federation of Regional Houses of Aragón includes a funding of 60,000 euros and features musical performances on October 8 at Fuente Hispanidad and on October 12 at the Ambar Fuente de Goya stage.

The Councilor for Culture, Education, and Tourism, Sara Fernández, and the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Internal Regime, Alfonso Mendoza, along with the president of the Regional Houses, Lola Sebastián, presented the details at a press conference, highlighting that this will be «the most participative in its history.»

Territorial Representation and Additional Collection

The Offering will maintain the representation of the 15 districts of the city and the 14 rural neighborhoods, preserving the traditional spirit of the event, where participants wear traditional clothing from their places of origin and offer characteristic fruits from their communities.

Additionally, a food collection has been set up at the Holy Refuge from October 1 to 13, Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a special need for milk. The Regional Houses have set a goal of reaching 70,000 kilograms of food collected.
