The Zaragoza Provincial Council Distributes 220,000 Euros Among 18 Aragonese Performing Arts Companies
The provincial institution has granted aid to companies and freelancers in the theater, dance, and circus sectors to promote the production of quality shows. This call for applications, implemented since 2023, aims to spur artistic innovation in the province of Zaragoza and Aragón.
Beneficiaries and Funding Modalities
The aids are distributed in three modalities according to the budget of the performing arts project. Modality A covers projects with a budget of less than 14,999.99 euros, with a maximum aid of 35%. Modality B includes projects between 15,000 and 39,999.99 euros, with funding of up to 40%. Modality C is targeted at projects between 40,000 and 90,000 euros, with aid that can reach 50% of the total budget.
Cultural and Territorial Objectives
The Councillor for Culture, Charo Lázaro, highlighted that these aids demonstrate the institution’s «firm and determined commitment to culture.» According to her, the performing arts contribute to reflecting and preserving the traditions and identities of municipalities, as well as fostering creativity and conveying values.
Lázaro emphasized that the Provincial Council ensures that culture reaches «every corner of the territory, even the smallest municipalities,» and regarded culture as a «structuring element of the territory and a tool to combat depopulation.» The councillor added that it becomes «a key strategy for retaining population since it generates employment, improves quality of life, and offers attractive alternatives, especially for young people.»
Requirements and Deadlines
The submitted projects must be original and unpublished, with complete freedom regarding theme, treatment, storyline, and genre. Each company can only present one project under one of the established modalities. The grant will cover the production costs of performing arts works carried out between January 1 and November 6, 2025.
