The XX Antiquarian and Second-Hand Book Fair in Zaragoza opens its doors this Thursday, March 25, marking the start of a cultural celebration that will last until April 12. This event, organized by the Government of Aragon and the Association of Antiquarian and Second-Hand Bookshops of Aragon (ALVADA), is expected to attract between 40,000 and 50,000 visitors, who will be able to enjoy a wide range of literary offerings in Plaza de Aragón.
A Journey Through Literary History in Zaragoza
The fair offers visitors the opportunity to explore a variety of booths where they will find old or out-of-print books, as well as engravings, maps, postcards, sticker albums, vintage magazines, comics, and graphic novels. Among the literary treasures are works from the 18th and 19th centuries, even including incunabula from the 16th century, which promise to captivate both bibliophiles and the curious.
The event is not only a window into literary history but also a space to rediscover the value of print in an era dominated by digital media. Pedro Olloqui, General Director of Culture, emphasized the significance of material and analog elements in today’s cultural world, highlighting how these aspects have acquired a new modernity.
Participation of Bookstores and Notable Figures
The fair features the participation of eleven bookstores, including Librería Prólogo from Huesca, Librería Luces de Bohemia from Zaragoza, and Librería García Prieto from Madrid, among others. These bookstores bring a geographical and catalog diversity that enriches the visitor experience.
The opening of the event will be graced by Adolfo Ayuso Roy, a writer and playwright, who will be the keynote speaker. Ayuso, known for his work in popular and puppet theater, will bring his unique perspective to the event, highlighting the fair as a «treasure hunt» experience for attendees, who will have the chance to find books they missed the opportunity to read in the past.
An Unmissable Event for Reading Enthusiasts
The XX Antiquarian and Second-Hand Book Fair in Zaragoza is presented as an unmissable event for lovers of reading and history.
