The exports from Aragón experienced a growth of 1.1% year-on-year in January, reaching 1,169.6 million euros. This increase stands out against the decline of 2.9% for Spain as a whole during the same period, while Aragonese imports decreased significantly.
Positive trade balance for Aragón
Imports in Aragón dropped by 20.4% year-on-year, totaling 1,028.4 million euros, in contrast to the national decline of 8.4%. This resulted in a positive trade balance of 145.8 million euros for Aragón, with a coverage rate of 114.2%. In comparison, Spain had a trade deficit of 4,010 million euros and a coverage rate of 87.8%.
Automobile and food sectors lead exports
The automobile sector was the main driver of Aragonese exports, with 296.7 million euros, accounting for 25.4% of the total. This was followed by the Food, beverages, and tobacco sectors with 253.7 million (21.7%), and Capital goods with 183.1 million (15.7%). Also noteworthy were Chemical products with 128.6 million (11.0%) and Consumer manufactured goods with 109.8 million (9.4%). These five categories accounted for more than 83% of total exports.
Imports concentrated in capital goods
Regarding imports, Capital goods led with 311.2 million euros (30.4%), followed by Consumer manufactured goods with 253.3 million (24.6%). Chemical products and the automobile sector were also significant, with 123.7 million and 104.8 million euros respectively (12.0% and 10.2%), totaling 77.2% of total imports.
