Aragón Allocates 1.5 Million for Training 19 Young Doctors

The Official Bulletin of Aragon has published the resolution for grants aimed at postdoctoral training for doctoral research personnel, with a funding allocation of 1.5 million euros designated for hiring young doctors during the period of 2025 to 2027. These aids seek to promote the retention of research talent in Aragon.

The grants will allow for the hiring of 19 young doctoral researchers, also offering the possibility of conducting stays of between 4 and 12 months at prestigious foreign centers. This pioneering initiative in the community aims to increase the critical mass of researchers in key areas.

The main objective of these grants is to retain young research talent within the various research centers and organizations in Aragon. The development areas of the subsidized contracts are primarily technological and biosanitary, although they also include agri-food, green energy and fuels, sustainable mobility, and the cultural sector. These areas have a high socio-economic impact in terms of R&D+i and are fundamental for the economic and social development of the community.

The General Director of Science and Research of the Government of Aragon, Pilar Gayán, has highlighted the success of the call, reflected in the high number of applications, which reaffirms the Department’s commitment to programs for attracting and retaining research talent. Moreover, the research stays in different countries will enhance the internationalization of Aragon through relationships with other prestigious institutions. Finally, these aids promote the stabilization of young people in the world of science, favoring the continuity of their training and the retention of talent.
