The «60 y Más» Group of Huesca Unveils Its 2025 Emergency Guide

The senior volunteer group «60 y más» of the Huesca City Council has taken a significant step in its community work by promoting the pamphlet «72 hours,» an essential guide for emergency preparedness. This effort is part of its ongoing commitment to social promotion and civic education.

The group «60 y más» was born within the framework of the «Gender and Health» program of the municipal Equality service. Its first meeting was held at the Equal Campus Urbanus 2025, where members participated in an intergenerational experience alongside young people. This collaboration resulted in the gathering of key information to prepare a three-day emergency kit, which culminated in the creation of the pamphlet that is now being widely distributed.

The collaborative approach of this project has not only strengthened intergenerational ties but has also underscored the importance of being prepared for emergency situations, a message that «60 y más» has taken upon itself to convey to the community.

Expansion and Outreach Activities

The official presentation of the pamphlet took place on January 19 in the Blue Room of the Huesca Casino. Since then, the group has conveyed its message to various centers for older adults, including the Retirement Home of the Incarnation and the Pío XII Senior Citizens’ Home. These visits are just the beginning of a broader schedule of informational sessions that they plan to conduct with neighborhood associations.

In addition to these activities, «60 y más» is actively participating in the II Citizen Participation Days of the Huesca City Council, demonstrating its commitment to active ageing and social participation.

Recognition and the Future of Volunteering

The group «60 y más» is not only part of the municipal Civic Volunteering initiative but will also soon be integrated into the CVOL (Volunteering Skills Curriculum) of the Government of Aragón. This incorporation, in collaboration with the Volunteering Platform of Aragón, reinforces the recognition and visibility of its members’ social commitment.

With monthly meetings and new projects in development, «60 y más» continues to exemplify how senior volunteering can have a significant impact on the community, promoting preparation and resilience in the face of emergencies.
