The San Jorge University promotes the STEM Talent Girl program for the second consecutive year to encourage scientific and technological vocations in young women
San Jorge University continues to promote the STEM Talent Girl program from the ASTI Foundation in Aragón, a free initiative aimed at female students from secondary education to university. The program seeks to actively contribute to reducing the gender gap in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, where women continue to be a minority.
STEM Talent Girl takes place over eight months outside of school hours and is intended for female students in the autonomous community of Aragón who are in secondary education, high school, vocational training, or university studies. The program is free of charge for participants.
The initiative is organized into three specific subprograms according to age and educational needs:
STEM for Her is aimed at secondary school students with the goal of helping them discover their talents, eliminate biases, and orient their education towards scientific and technological areas with high employability.
Mentor Women targets high school students, offering them personalized guidance to decide their academic and professional future.
Real Work is directed at university students, connecting them with leading companies and helping them transition into the workforce.
The program features a network of mentors made up of STEM professionals from various fields who guide participants through inspirational talks, mentoring sessions, practical activities, company visits, and collaborative research project development.
National reach of the STEM Talent Girl program
STEM Talent Girl was created ten years ago and has already trained more than 8,000 girls from across Spain. It has 14 physical locations in Madrid, Castilla y León, Málaga, Valencia, and Zaragoza, in addition to an online center for students from other provinces. It also offers a virtual classroom where young women and their families can view and register for various activities or track their progress.
Registration is open until October 5, and spots are limited. To participate in the program, students must write a motivation letter explaining why they want to be a «talent girl» and send it along with their application through www.talent-girl.com. Selected students will begin the program in October.
