The registered unemployment in Aragón reached 48,481 people at the end of August 2025, according to data from the Public State Employment Service. This figure represents a decrease of 5.14% compared to the same month of the previous year, although there was a slight monthly increase of 0.16% with 77 more unemployed than in July.

The monthly increase of 77 people compared to July fits within the typical seasonal pattern of August. Historically, registered unemployment tends to rise in August due to the conclusion of summer contracts and fruit-picking campaigns. Since the beginning of the century, registered unemployment in August has increased monthly on 22 occasions both in Aragón and in Spain.
The monthly increase was concentrated among men, with 98 more unemployed (0.53% monthly), while women experienced a decrease of 21 unemployed (-0.07% monthly). By sectors, the increase was focused in services with 233 more unemployed (0.70% monthly), construction with 29 more (1.09% monthly), and agriculture with 6 more (0.36% monthly). The industry recorded a decrease of 15 people (-0.28% monthly).
Annual Comparison and Territorial Distribution
The annual decrease of 2,627 people (-5.14%) shows a generalized profile across provinces, gender, and sectors. By gender, there was a reduction of 1,029 men (-5.23% annually) and 1,598 women (-5.08% annually). By sectors, the largest reductions occurred in services with 1,397 fewer people (-3.98% annually), industry with 597 fewer (-10.07% annually), construction with 304 fewer (-10.14% annually), and agriculture with 157 fewer (-8.52% annually).
By provinces, Huesca recorded a reduction of 468 people (-6.91% annually), Teruel 164 people (-4.01% annually), and Zaragoza 1,995 people (-4.96% annually). In the regional context, unemployment showed year-on-year decreases in all autonomous communities.

Registered hiring in August reached 34,084 contracts, with a decrease of 29.51% monthly (14,627 contracts fewer than in July) and a decrease of 0.54% annually (185 contracts fewer than in August 2024). Of the total, 11,603 contracts were permanent (34.04%) and 22,481 were temporary (65.96%).
The average affiliation to the Social Security stood at 632,279 people, with a monthly decrease of 1.20% (7,696 fewer than in July) but an annual growth of 1.98% (12,279 more than in August 2024).
