The Minister of the Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, officially opened today the giant zip line Vértigo Park, located between Cantavieja and the Rebollar area. This new tourist infrastructure, which the minister described as a turning point for the Maestrazgo region, boasts a length of one kilometer and a drop of 330 meters.
The Vértigo Park zip line ranks among the five longest in Spain. It is a double zip line and the only installation of its kind situated in one of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain. The ride lasts approximately one minute, reaching speeds of around 80 kilometers per hour.
The construction involved an investment of 120,000 euros from the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE), funded 50% by the Government of Aragón and the Government of Spain. This initiative aligns with the regional executive’s goal of promoting new tourist resources that contribute to economic diversification and sustainable development in the area.
The company Geoventur will be responsible for operating the resource, aiming to complement the municipality’s tourist, cultural, gastronomic, and accommodation offerings. The project also seeks to seasonally adjust tourism in Cantavieja and the Maestrazgo region.
The inauguration was attended by the mayor of Cantavieja, Ricardo Altabás; the Deputy Delegate of the Government of Spain in Teruel, Enrique Gómez; the President of the Provincial Council of Teruel, Joaquín Juste; and the delegate of the Government of Aragón in Teruel, Rosa Sánchez, among other institutional representatives.
The new infrastructure opens in a context of sustained growth in provincial tourism. Between January and August 2025, Teruel welcomed 302,041 travelers (2.5% more than in the same period of 2024) and recorded 627,881 overnight stays (an increase of 8.3%). Overnight stays by foreign tourists have risen by 19.6%, while domestic tourism shows positive trends with over 262,000 resident travelers and a 6.3% increase in overnight stays. The average length of stay reaches 2.08 days, a 5.7% increase compared to 2024.
