FITE 2024 will allocate 60 million euros to strategic projects in the province of Teruel

The Governing Council of Aragon has approved the distribution of the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE) for the year 2024, with a total allocation of 60 million euros aimed at strengthening infrastructure, promoting strategic initiatives and improving the quality of life in the municipalities of the province. This fund, financed in equal parts by the Government of Aragon and the Government of Spain, represents a key tool for the economic, social and territorial development of Teruel.

The FITE 2024 includes a wide range of lines of action, ranging from the improvement of transport infrastructures to investment in cultural, social and environmental initiatives. Among the most outstanding new features of this edition are the specific aid for rural areas affected by depopulation and the recovery of democratic memory projects, two areas that reinforce the fund’s commitment to the specific needs of the province.

«Today we show how in Aragon we are giving the relevance that new sectors called to be protagonists deserve and also that projects that did not exist years ago come to our territory to generate employment and opportunities» Mar Vaquero

The three lines that concentrate most of the investment are support for strategic projects, with an allocation of 16.7 million euros; the development of social, sports and leisure facilities, which receives 13.2 million euros; and social cohesion initiatives, which will have 8 million euros. These items support emblematic projects such as Dinópolis, the Airport of Teruel Consortium, the Ciudad del Motor de Aragón and essential works such as the accesses to the new hospital of Teruel or the improvement of educational infrastructures in the province.

In addition, more than 16 million euros will be allocated to specific actions for small and medium-sized local entities, which guarantees a more equitable distribution of resources and direct attention to the needs of the most vulnerable populations.

The Minister of the Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, emphasized that the three projects that will receive the largest investments are the Teruel Airport Consortium, with an allocation of 7 million Euros; the aid for tourism projects for local entities, which amounts to 6.2 million Euros and will be granted through competitive concurrence; and the investments in provincial roads, which will have a budget of 5.5 million Euros. These initiatives seek to strengthen connectivity, boost tourism and promote the local economy throughout the province.

FITE 2024 also includes measures that promote sustainability and innovation, such as boosting environmental investments and projects linked to the circular economy. These initiatives are designed to improve not only infrastructure, but also the resilience of municipalities in the face of challenges such as climate change and depopulation.

Actions aimed at local entities are a fundamental pillar of FITE 2024, ensuring that small and medium-sized municipalities have access to resources to develop infrastructure, social services, sports and cultural projects. This approach reinforces territorial cohesion and contributes to mitigating inequalities between the different areas of the province.

In addition, the increase in the FITE agreed with the central government in the coming years will allow greater resources to be allocated to business investments that generate employment and wealth in the territory, consolidating a sustainable development model adapted to local needs.

The Teruel Investment Fund continues to be an essential tool for promoting the economic and social development of a province with great challenges and opportunities. With strategic projects ranging from key infrastructures to the promotion of historical memory and sustainable tourism, the FITE 2024 reinforces its commitment to the transformation of the territory and the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.
