The Council of Ministers has authorized five Defense Ministry procurement measures totaling €168,400,988.94. The funds will be used to maintain the Army’s BMR/VEC vehicles, purchase ammunition and heavy machine guns, support the Navy’s MH-60R helicopters, and amend the contract for Standard SM-2 IIICU missiles.
The largest allocation is a framework agreement worth €46.26 million to procure 155-millimeter field artillery ammunition. The agreement will run for four years and may be extended for a further two.
Maintenance of BMR and VEC vehicles
The Defense Ministry will allocate €39.34 million to comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance of BMR/VEC vehicles. The initial term will be four years, with the option to extend it by another two.
Another framework agreement, valued at €22.69 million, will allow for the purchase of heavy machine guns. The published documentation does not identify the model or the planned number of weapons.
Support for the Navy’s new helicopters
The Navy will receive €17.54 million for logistics, technical and engineering support for its new MH-60R helicopters.
The fifth measure consists of a second amendment to the contract for the acquisition of Standard SM-2 IIICU missiles, with an estimated value of €42.58 million.
ISFAS health-care agreement
The Council of Ministers has also authorized the Social Institute of the Armed Forces to process the agreement that will guarantee health-care coverage for its members throughout 2027. The value of this agreement is not included in the €168.4 million allocated to the military procurement measures.
