The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragón has announced the allocation of aid worth 18.5 million euros to 71 agribusiness companies in the region. This initiative, part of the support plan for the agrifood industry for 2025, aims to promote the modernization and sustainability of the sector, mobilizing a total investment of over 228 million euros alongside the previous plan.
Impact of the call on the agrifood industry
The call has been successfully received by the Aragonese business fabric. The 71 companies that met the established criteria received aid without budget exclusions, ensuring the complete execution of the available funds. This financial support is aimed at improving competitiveness and innovation in the agrifood industry of Aragón, reflecting a commitment to sustainable development and modernization of the sector.
Distribution of aid by provinces and sectors
The aid has been distributed fairly among the provinces of Aragón: 34 beneficiary companies in Zaragoza, 27 in Huesca, and 10 in Teruel. In terms of sectoral distribution, the horticultural and processed vegetable sector leads with a contribution of 5.16 million euros, followed by the meat sector with 3.11 million euros and the cereals, flour, and feed sector with 2.97 million euros. Other benefited sectors include pet food, animal by-products, sweets, and pastry, among others.
Strategic outlook for the future
With the resolution of this call, the Department of Agriculture concludes a significant support cycle for the Aragonese agribusiness. In the last two years, more than 120 companies have received aid, generating a notable economic impact in the region. Amparo Cuéllar, General Director of Innovation and Food Promotion, emphasized the commitment of the Government of Aragón to provide constant and secure support to the agrifood industry, enabling companies to plan long-term investments, grow, and generate employment in the community.
