The Government of Aragon has announced an investment of 363,050 euros to improve the energy efficiency of IES Sierra Palomera in Cella, Teruel. This intervention aims to optimize the thermal comfort of the building by reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Facade Rehabilitation and Insulation Improvement
The intervention, which has already been tendered, will focus on improving the thermal envelope of IES Sierra Palomera. This will be achieved by increasing insulation in the blind facades and replacing the current sliding metal frames with more efficient ones. With these measures, significant reductions in energy losses and air infiltrations in the building are expected.
Currently, the educational center presents deficiencies in thermal insulation, with facades largely composed of exposed brick panels that offer a low level of insulation. Furthermore, the windows with metal frames lacking thermal break do not meet the regulatory requirements for the climatic zone, which increases energy consumption to maintain suitable temperatures in the classrooms.
Project Objectives and Funding Framework
The main objective of this initiative is to reduce the energy consumption of the educational center and enhance its environmental sustainability. The intervention is part of the Energy Efficiency of Public Educational Centers initiative under the Aragón FEDER Program 2021-2027, under the goal «A Greener Europe.» The project has an execution period of 105 days and aims to benefit both the environment and the school community.
Tender Process and Business Participation
Companies interested in participating in the tender process have until April 30 at 2 p.m. to submit their bids. Prior to this, they will be able to conduct technical visits to the building on April 14, 21, and 28, upon notifying the Provincial Service of Education, Culture, and Sport of Teruel. These visits will allow companies to assess the current state of the building and adjust their proposals to the specific needs of the project.
