Aragonese Delegation Delivers Cultural Gifts at the Universal Exposition in Osaka
The Aragonese delegation has made various deliveries of institutional gifts during its participation in the Universal Exposition in Osaka, selecting pieces that represent the tradition, culture, and historical legacy of the autonomous community.
Commemorative Print from Expo Zaragoza 2008
The delegation has offered a commemorative print to the officials of the Spain Pavilion and other pavilions that links to the memory of Expo Zaragoza 2008. The piece, created by the craftsman Francisco José Lázaro Núñez, reproduces a miniaturized image that was used as the official invitation for the closing ceremony of that exposition.
The work represents the metaphor of the Earth’s ecosystems and their relationship with water, which was the thematic focus of the Zaragoza exhibition. A limited series of 25 numbered copies has been published, testifying to the collective effort of the Expo Zaragoza under the slogan «Water and Sustainable Development.» The commemorative text accompanying the print recalls the Zaragoza Charter, which collected best practices from countries across five continents, and salutes Osaka’s slogan: «Designing the Society of the Future for Our Lives.»
Japanese authorities and business leaders have received an exclusive sculpture of the Virgen del Pilar, designed in Aragon, made of resin and plated with sterling silver. This piece combines tradition and contemporary craftsmanship, representing one of the most universal symbols of Aragonese identity.
At the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo, the Aragonese delegation has donated a copy of the work of Baltasar Gracián to the Federico García Lorca library, who is a central figure of the Golden Age and one of the most universal Aragonese thinkers. The volume is incorporated into the library’s collection, accompanied by a commemorative text that highlights the universal significance of Gracián’s thought and his relevance as an author capable of bridging cultures through intelligence and word.
