Boa Mistura Presents «Fragments» at the Ibercaja Foundation Youth Space

The artistic collective Boa Mistura, known for its global urban interventions, presents the exhibition «Fragments» at the Espacio Joven of Fundación Ibercaja in Zaragoza. This show, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the organization, offers a journey through the group’s trajectory from its beginnings in the year 2000 to 2026, under the curatorship of Lola Durán Úcar.

A Collective with Global Impact

Boa Mistura, founded in Madrid in late 2001, is composed of Pablo Ferreiro, a graduate in Fine Arts; Pablo Purón, an illustrator; and Javier Serrano, an architect. This collective has distinguished itself by its focus on transforming public spaces, aiming to strengthen community ties and redefine people’s relationship with their environment.

Boa Mistura’s work has transcended borders, with projects in over 40 countries and participation in prestigious events such as the Ibero-American Design Biennial, the Dakar Biennial, the Milan Design Triennale, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. Their works have been exhibited in renowned institutions, including the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid and the MAXXI Museum in Rome.

The «Fragments» Exhibition: A Journey Through Urban Art

The «Fragments» exhibition centers around the concept of the wall as a central element, structured in three stages that reflect Boa Mistura’s evolution. The first stage focuses on the origins of graffiti, documenting the collective’s early works through photographs, including interventions at the Asalto Festival.

The second stage shows the evolution towards international community interventions, highlighting projects such as «Luz Nas Vielas» in São Paulo, «Somos Luz» in Panama, and «Mi Raíz» in Havana. These works emphasize collective memory and shared experiences, with words as a central element.

In the third stage, the wall is fragmented, presenting works such as «Unión» and «Ubuntu,» diptychs of six acrylics each, and «Mural De-fragmentation,» an unpublished piece from 2026 composed of 42 concrete blocks in various colors.

Fundación Ibercaja: A Commitment to Culture

The «Fragments» exhibition is part of Fundación Ibercaja’s programming to commemorate its 150th anniversary. This private non-profit entity is dedicated to promoting social and cultural initiatives, reflecting its values of commitment, transparency, professionalism, and dynamism.

The exhibition not only celebrates urban art but also offers a platform for the public to connect directly with the artworks and the artists, underscoring the importance of art as a tool for social transformation.
