The Government of Aragón has completed the digitalization of over 8,800 classrooms in the region, with an investment of €28.3 million. This effort, part of the #EcoDigEdu program, aims to transform the Aragonese educational system, as evidenced by the visit of Minister Carmen Susín to CRA La Sabina in Robres, Huesca.
Educational Transformation at CRA La Sabina
The Minister of Education, Science and Universities, Carmen Susín, visited CRA La Sabina to closely observe the progress of the #EcoDigEdu program. Accompanied by Manuel Magdaleno, General Secretary of the Department, and Holly Willis, the center’s director, Susín emphasized the importance of digitalization for a more dynamic education tailored to current needs. The installation of interactive monitors and other technological equipment in classrooms has significantly improved educational quality, reducing the technological gap between urban and rural areas.
During her visit, Susín stressed that this investment not only enhances educational quality but also ensures equal opportunities for students, regardless of their place of residence. Director Willis added that technology has been crucial in bridging the gap between urban and rural centers, directly benefiting the 71 students at CRA La Sabina.
Objectives and Action Lines of the Digitalization Program
The digitalization program has focused on three main areas: reducing the digital divide, renewing IT equipment, and training teachers. Over the past three years, 3,002 laptops and 6,048 tablets have been distributed across various educational levels, prioritizing the most vulnerable students.
Technological renewal has reached more than 8,800 classrooms, where 8,835 interactive monitors have been installed and thousands of computers updated. This equipment improvement fosters a more participatory and visually engaging teaching approach. Moreover, teacher training has been key, with over 300 training sessions held to ensure optimal use of new technologies in the classroom.
Educational Impact and Results of Digitalization
The digitalization of Aragonese classrooms is transforming teaching methods and promoting digital literacy from an early age. According to the 2025 Diagnostic Assessment Report from CEFyCA, the use of interactive monitors has improved students’ competencies, particularly in language skills.
At CRA La Sabina, technology has strengthened the connection between the localities of Alcubierre, Frula, Montesusín, and Robres, enabling collaborative activities and overcoming the distances of rural areas. This center stands as an example of how digitalization can transform education in rural environments, providing students with tools for a more innovative and connected learning experience.
