The Government of Aragón’s Department of Education has put out to tender the transformation of school dining systems in two educational centers in Zaragoza. The estimated total investment amounts to €358,328.75 including VAT. The project aims to shift from an external cold catering model to direct management with in-situ cooking.
The works will affect the CEIP Catalina de Aragón in Zaragoza and the CPI Galo Ponte in San Mateo de Gállego. Both centers currently provide dining services through external catering, which is intended to be converted to internal management.
The new facilities will include a dining area for students, an in-house cooking kitchen with a dishwashing area, a storage room, and changing rooms for food handlers. All areas will be appropriately sized for the expected workload.
The contract can be tendered as a whole or in separate lots. For the CEIP Catalina de Aragón, the budget amounts to €183,990.97, while for the CPI Galo Ponte de San Mateo, it will be €174,337.78. The execution of the works is planned to take 80 calendar days.
Selection Criteria and Deadlines
The selection of the company will be based on the economic offer, improvement of energy certification, reduction of the execution period, and extension of the warranty periods for the works for 12 months. The deadline for submitting offers is November 12.
Dining Capacity
The CEIP Catalina de Aragón will serve approximately 300 diners distributed in a continuous shift, where older students access after the younger ones. The CPI Galo Ponte de San Mateo will serve around 180 diners.
This summer, the Government of Aragón transformed 9 dining facilities from cold catering to in-situ cooking with an investment exceeding two million euros. For the upcoming school year, the transformation of at least three additional dining facilities is planned: those of the schools Catalina de Aragón, Galo Ponte, and Pintor Pradilla in Villanueva de Gállego.
Additionally, the new centralized kitchen of the CEIP Ensanche de Teruel, which will also serve the Pierres Vedel and Miguel Vallés centers, will enable all public schools in the capital of Teruel to have in-situ cooking services next year. This project will begin in a few weeks with an investment of half a million euros.
