‘Finanzas para Jóvenes’ trains 1,000 students in Aragón

The ‘Financial Education for Youth’ program, driven by CaixaBank Volunteering, together with the Government of Aragón and the Institute of Financial Studies, is celebrating its ninth edition. This project aims to provide over a thousand 4th year secondary school students in Aragón with basic knowledge in financial education for responsible economic decision-making.

Impact and Development of the Program

The program targets a total of 1,000 students in 4th year secondary school, distributed across 25 educational centers throughout the Aragón region. More than 100 face-to-face workshops will be held, each lasting 50 minutes. The workshops are conducted by CaixaBank volunteers who have received specific training from the Institute of Financial Studies to ensure effective and pedagogical teaching.

The structure of the program is divided into four key thematic areas. The first, ‘Money and Transactions’, focuses on budgeting and responsible consumption to avoid over-indebtedness. The second area, ‘Financial Planning and Management’, teaches about income, types of expenses, and the importance of controlling spending according to a budget. The third, ‘Risk and Return’, addresses the risk/return trade-off and various investment assets. Finally, ‘Financial Environment’ aims to raise students’ awareness of the importance of responsible financial decisions to achieve long-term life goals.

Participation and Geographic Distribution

The program extends throughout Aragón, with 18 centers in Zaragoza, including institutions such as IES Reyes Católicos in Ejea de los Caballeros and Montessori School. In Huesca, 4 centers are participating, such as Colegio Santa Rosa and IES Baltasar Gracián in Graus. Teruel has 3 centers, including IES Gúdar Javalambre in Mora de Rubielos.

This educational effort aligns with OECD guidelines on financial education, assessed in the PISA Report, ensuring that students develop crucial skills for their financial future. The continuity and expansion of the ‘Financial Education for Youth’ program reflect a sustained commitment to the economic training of new generations in Aragón.
