Huesca is preparing to host the Hackathon The Wave 2026 «Hacking the Future» on March 11, an event aimed at connecting young talent from Aragon with strategic sectors in the region through collaborative innovation. During this day, students and young professionals will work on solving real challenges using emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
A collaborative innovation event in the heart of Aragon
The Hackathon The Wave 2026 will take place at the Faculty of Business and Public Management at the University of Zaragoza campus in Huesca, from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM. This event stands out as an intensive innovation space where multidisciplinary teams come together to tackle challenges posed by companies and institutions, combining creativity, technology, and teamwork.
One of the main innovations for this edition is its expansion at the regional level, with hackathons also scheduled in Teruel and Zaragoza. The challenges are designed to reflect the local context and the most representative sectors of each province, ensuring a relevant experience tailored to the needs of the region.
Business participation and strategic challenges
In Huesca, the hackathon will feature the participation of prominent companies such as Aramon, Integra, Embou, Valentia, Inetum, and Inycom. These organizations will present challenges in key areas such as tourism and snow, digital transformation, telecommunications, social innovation, technological consulting, and industry 4.0.
The event is driven by Microsoft and organized by the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA) and Tecnara, with the collaboration of the University of Zaragoza, which provides the venues and involves its students in this initiative.
Activities and prizes to encourage innovation
In addition to solving challenges, the hackathon will include complementary activities such as facilitation by Juan Capilla and a talk on entrepreneurship given by physicist and science communicator José Luis Oltra, known as @Cuarentaydos on social media.
To encourage participation and project development, prizes of €1,000 for first place, €500 for second, and €250 for third will be awarded. These prizes are intended to support the continuation of the most promising projects.
Following the event in Huesca, the second edition of the hackathon will take place in Zaragoza on April 13 and 14, as a precursor to the congress The Wave 2026, which will be held from April 14 to 16 at the city’s Congress Palace.
