Ibercaja has revealed a detailed analysis of the mortgage market in Aragón for 2025, showing notable growth compared to the national average. The study, led by Santiago Martínez, highlights greater dynamism in the region, although differences in monthly growth rates are evident.
Growth of the Mortgage Market in Aragón
In December 2025, Aragón experienced a year-on-year growth of 6.1% in mortgages granted, contrasting with 17.4% at the national level. However, when considering the entire year, the expansion in Aragón reached 24.0%, significantly surpassing the national average of 17.8%. The average mortgage amount also showed similar growth in December, with 13.4% in the region compared to 13.5% nationally, although it was lower for the annual total (10.2% vs. 12.6%).
Volume and Market Share of Mortgages
During 2025, Aragón recorded a total of 13,264 mortgages granted with an average amount of 129,625 euros, standing 21% below the national average of 163,738 euros. The total amount granted reached 1.719 billion euros, representing 2.1% of the national mortgage market. Although this share reflects a recovery compared to 2024, it is still slightly below the historical average for the region.
Future Growth Prospects
Ibercaja predicts that population growth in Aragón, driven by investment projects, could extend mortgage expansion beyond the national average in the coming years. Additionally, the more moderate evolution of housing prices compared to other regions will facilitate access to home purchases, thus prolonging the mortgage cycle in the region.
