Legendark Reopens in Galve on February 28 with a New Exhibit

Legendark, the headquarters of Dinópolis in Galve, will reopen its doors on February 28 after a museum renovation that promises to enrich the paleontological experience. This emblematic space, which has welcomed 122,000 visitors, now presents a renewed exhibition that highlights the importance of Galve in Spanish paleontology.

A Journey Through the Jurassic and Cretaceous

The new exhibition at Legendark is organized into two main areas that allow visitors to explore life in Galve during the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous periods. In the area dedicated to the Late Jurassic, visitors can admire fossils and replicas of the Aragosaurus ischiaticus, the first dinosaur described in Spain. This sauropod, which measured 14 meters in length, is a central piece of the exhibition, along with a skeletal reconstruction of the theropod Allosaurus.

On the other hand, the Early Cretaceous area features a sculpture of the Iguanodon galvensis, defined by the Dinópolis Foundation in 2015. This area also includes models of spinosaurids, unprecedented large fossils, and a replica of the ornithopod Hypsilophodon.

Museum Innovations and Interactive Experience

In addition to the fossils, Legendark incorporates innovative museographic elements such as a totem that displays the geological time scale and milestones of the Foundation in Galve since 1998. Visitors can enjoy backlit murals that address the theme of visitable sites and the paleoenvironments of Galve, all accompanied by ambient music.

Interactivity is key to the new experience, with modules dedicated to fossil preparation and restoration, as well as interactive displays that allow visitors to relate fossilized teeth to dinosaurs and handle life-size augmented replicas. A display case showcases replicas of mammals and small animals that coexisted with the dinosaurs, providing a comprehensive view of the ecosystem of the time.

Funding and Future Projections

The renovation of Legendark has been made possible thanks to the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE), with an investment of €507,875.05 plus VAT, managed by the Aragonese Institute of Promotion. This investment has allowed for the modernization of the exhibition and the update of scientific content, enhancing the museum experience.

With the reopening of Legendark, Dinópolis begins its new season on February 28, coinciding with the opening of other locations in the province of Teruel. This year marks another step towards the park’s 25th anniversary in 2026, consolidating its role as a reference in paleontological dissemination.
