Third Edition of Premios metalíZate Recognizes Student Talent
The Theater of the Corners hosted the third edition of the Premios metalíZate, awards organized by the Federation of Metal Companies of Zaragoza (FEMZ). The event honors the effort and talent of students who have completed higher degrees related to the metal sector. Mar Vaquero, Vice President and Counselor of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice, attended the event and highlighted that in this moment of prosperity that Aragón is experiencing, the metal sector is a great opportunity for the future.
The gala was attended by more than 450 participants, including students and businesspeople. During the event, Vaquero emphasized the immense talent possessed by the people of Aragón and stated that the premios metalíZate demonstrate that we can rest assured because the future of this community is in good hands. The awards included recognition for the best final projects in vocational training cycles in Mechanical Manufacturing, Electricity and Electronics, Commerce and Marketing, Energy and Water, Installation and Maintenance, and Transport and Vehicle Maintenance. Additionally, two special awards were given: one for the most outstanding project and another for an initiative with social impact.
Benito Tesier, President of FEMZ, explained that metalíZate is structured around three main axes. The organization has developed orientation and job insertion programs with participation from approximately 300 people; a job bank that in 2024 managed 183 offers from 134 companies and totaled 442 users searching for employment; and the «Opening Your Future» project, which during the previous academic year provided 99 talks at 23 educational centers, reaching 2,364 students in Secondary Education and Vocational Training.
The gala featured presentations by David Cuartielles, co-founder of Arduino, and Luis Rabanal, an automotive engineer and content creator specializing in the automotive world. Both shared their personal and professional experiences, conveying a message of enthusiasm and innovation to the youth. Tesier highlighted that the metal sector encompasses 8,500 companies, employs more than 110,000 workers, and contributes 48% of the Gross Added Value of the Community of Aragón.
