Ana Cecilia Oliván Takes Leadership of REMP in Teruel

Ana Cecilia Oliván Villobas, General Director of Forest Management of the Government of Aragon, has been elected president of the State Network of Public Forests (REMP) during the Constituent Assembly held in Teruel. This formal constitution marks the institutional consolidation of the network, which until now operated as a project through the Biodiversity Foundation. The event coincided with the inauguration of the II State Congress on Public Forests.

Composition of the new board

The structure of the Board includes the following positions, with a duration of four years, extendable for another two:

  • President: Ana Cecilia Oliván Villobas (Government of Aragon)
  • Vice President: Alfredo Luis Chavarría Samper (Castilla-La Mancha Communities Board)
  • Members: Inma Crispín Murillo (Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation), José Ángel Arranz Sanz (Castilla y León Board), Gabriel Ángel Gutiérrez Tejada (Andalusia Board), Salomé Hernando Chicote (Government of Navarre), and María Cruz Ferreira Costa (Region of Murcia)

During the assembly, the governance protocol and the quota system for member entities were approved, consolidating the institutional operation of the network.

Objectives and Scope of the State Network of Public Forests

Oliván highlighted that the REMP represents a common coordination space that will allow for knowledge sharing and improvement in the management of public forests. The network integrates not only autonomous communities but also hydrographic confederations, provincial councils, and municipalities.

Program and main topics

The II State Congress on Public Forests takes place in Teruel, organized by the REMP with the support of the Government of Aragon, the Provincial Council of Teruel, and the City Council of Teruel, bringing together technicians and representatives of entities that own forests.

The State Network of Public Forests: Cooperation and Future

The State Network of Public Forests is consolidating as a space for cooperation, exchange, and learning among administrations and owner entities to enhance the value of public forest heritage and promote sustainable management.
