Aragón Leads Social Sustainability in Spanish Tourism with Pioneering Approval of the Code of Good Practices

Zaragoza, November 6, 2025 – Aragón becomes the first autonomous community in Spain to implement a Decalogue of Good Practices in Hospitality and Tourism, a consensual instrument that marks a milestone in the transition towards a more legal, ethical, and inclusive tourism model. Promoted by the Confederation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Aragón (CEHTA), the decalogue establishes ten essential commitments to strengthen the professionalism of the sector.

The ten principles, the result of consensus among the main entities in the sector, are:

  1. Know and comply with all local, regional, and national regulations.
  2. Keep all necessary permits and licenses updated.
  3. Ensure safety and hygiene in all areas of the establishment.
  4. Train personnel in food safety and labor regulations.
  5. Adhere to opening and closing times, along with noise regulations.
  6. Respect the labor rights of employees.
  7. Promote a safe and collaborative working environment.
  8. Stay informed about fiscal and accounting regulations and manage transparently.
  9. Maintain open and honest communication with employees and customers.
  10. Commit to continuous improvement and sustainability.

Voluntary certification and competitive advantages

The approval of the decalogue initiates a process of voluntary certification for all associated establishments. Those that pass the evaluation will receive the Certificate of Good Practices in Hospitality and Tourism, providing a distinctive seal in the market.

As an incentive, companies that obtain certification before December 31, 2025, will be able to participate in a draw for six places in an intensive course taught by Ferran Adrià.

Roadmap towards a circular economy and social investment

In the coming weeks, participating establishments will receive a Starter Kit with support materials and self-assessment tools. The rollout will include:

  • Specialized training in circular economy to optimize resources.
  • Recognitions for the best practices in social investment.

“Social sustainability is a key strategic differentiation,” affirm CEHTA.

A pioneering model in Spain

With this measure, Aragón positions itself as a national reference in integrating social criteria into tourism management. Partly funded by the European Union, the project underscores the commitment of the Government of Aragón to a profitable, fair, and regionally connected tourism.
