The Huesca City Council will celebrate a new edition of «Dance and City» on May 2, bringing contemporary dance to the Porches of Galicia. This event, framed within International Dance Day, seeks to bring this artistic discipline closer to the general public through free performances in urban spaces.
A free event in the heart of Huesca
The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, at 7:00 PM at the Porches of Galicia, one of the most emblematic places in Huesca. With free access, «Dance and City» will offer a unique experience by presenting three micro-pieces specifically designed for the urban environment. These short and direct performances are conceived to establish a more intimate and accessible connection with the audience, moving away from the traditional theater format.
Innovative artistic proposals
The «Dance and City» program includes a selection of interventions from local, national, and international companies, highlighting the diversity and richness of contemporary dance. Among the proposals is Spirit Hilma, a stage fantasy inspired by Hilma af Klint, a pioneer of abstract painting. This piece, featuring dancer Laura López and viol player Pilar Almalé, fuses contemporary dance with live music, creating a multisensory experience.
Another piece, (Íor), presented by Cía. Marc Fernández, is a contemporary dance duet that focuses on partnering and body contact. The work explores the balance and complicity between two bodies, offering a reflection on human interaction through movement.
Finally, Nakama, by The Concept Company, is a piece designed for public space that combines contemporary and urban dance. This work reflects on friendship and companionship, presenting a clear narrative and a dynamic rhythm that invites the audience to immerse themselves in its story.
An opportunity to enjoy art in the streets
«Dance and City» represents a unique opportunity to enjoy art in a different context, bringing contemporary dance to the streets of Huesca and allowing the public to approach this form of artistic expression in a free and accessible manner. With an innovative approach and a diverse program, the event promises to be a meeting point between dance and the community, celebrating the transformative power of art in public spaces.
